One of Ashley's favorite things to do is watch American Idol. Ashley loves Allison. And I admit I do also. She is very unique. Last week Ashley asked me...."Mom, if I came out of your tummy would you let me dye my hair like Allison's?" It took a few minutes to absorb the questions and then twenty minutes to use extreme discipline not roll around on the floor laughing. So, how would you answer this girls question?
I love Alison's hair.
ReplyDeleteTell Ashley to get a wig in the same color and pretend that she did come out of your tummy.
Lia wants to dye her hair black. I don't understand why. My plan is to ask some questions: Why do you want to dye your hair black?
ReplyDeleteIf that question doesn't get me the deep answers I'm looking for, I'll continue: What do you think about people who dye their hair black? What do you think your natural hair color says about you? What do you think black hair will say about you? What do you think others will think about it? Is that important to you? How do you think that having black hair will change you?
Finally, "This is what I think about you." If her rationale is sound, I'd let her pay to get her hair dyed. Then I would try not to let her hear me cry myself to sleep at nights until I get used to her hair color or she gets tired of it.
By the way, Judy just had her hair colored (highlights) and we didn't have this conversation.
I know I pay good money every 6 weeks to get my hair dyed and colored. I think the whole out of my tummy thing related to the dying thing is what made me laugh so hard. Are they really related?
ReplyDeleteI was wondering also about the come out of the tummy. Different original hair color? Let her try it. What does bright red do to black? I've seen some at school and it kind of looks red.
ReplyDeleteI just love Ashley!!
